An act of revenge for poll boycott: HCBA

Srinagar: The High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has condemned the CRPF personnel for killing a youth namely Bashir Ahmad Bhat and injuring four other persons in Nawa Kadal area of old Srinagar.
“It is not for the first time that the CRPF personnel have opened fire on unarmed civilian; they have done so in the past also and have killed hundreds of innocent Kashmiris, and none of them have been prosecuted by the government so far. The reason for resorting to unprovoked firing on an unarmed civilian is only that the people boycotted election, and it was only to take revenge from them that the CRPF personnel have killed the young man and have injured four other persons,” a HCBA statement said.
“The decision of the government to conduct a magisterial inquiry into the incident is only an eyewash because in the past also dozens of magisterial enquiry have been ordered, but with no result. Even where magistrate enquiries have found the Indian armed personnel guilty of misuse of their power, but no action has been taken against them till date. The people of Kashmir have all along been saying that the Indian armed forces should be withdrawn and the Kashmiris be given their right to self-determination, but the Indian government and its stooges in Kashmir have opposed the withdrawal of the forces as they want that these forces should suppress, humiliate, harass and kill the people at their whim and caprice, so that they should enjoy the power.”
