Srinagar: Chief Judicial Magistrate here has asked Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar to execute warrants against the editorial board of a New Delhi – based weekly magazine for publication of pictures of Holy Makkah on a pack of cards.
According to prosecution officer, the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Srinagar issued warrants asking the SSP Srinagar to execute the warrants against editorial board of the magazine.
The warrants, officer said, were issued after police station Maisuma moved filed an application before the court, seeking the same against the accused for ‘not cooperating’ with the police in its investigations.
The case pertains to blasphemous publication, leading to protests in Srinagar and many parts of Valley on 28 February, 2006.
Subsequently, an FIR against the magazine was registered by police station Maisuma under RPC sections 295 (A) and 153. Both sections pertain to hurting religious sentiments and causing disruption in public harmony.
