More JKLF leaders arrested in raids

Srinagar: Police has arrested several leaders, activists and supporters of JKLF in overnight raids, a party spokesman said Monday.
He said JKLF leader Imtiyaz Ahmad Guru (Bitta), zonal assistant general secretary Sheikh Abdul Gaffar, whose two sons were detained by police earlier, many young boys from Maisuma, JKLF activists Inayat Ahmad Bhat, Shabir Ahmad Sofi, Aijaz Ahmad Baqal, Nadeem Ahmad Banday, Waseem Ahmad Dar, and Mohammad Shafi from Dargah Hazratbal, and many others.
Besides, detained JKLF leaders Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi and Ghulam Rasool Hazari have been shifted to Central Jail Srinagar, the spokesman said.
“Police is continuing its crackdown on JKLF leaders and workers and a war like scenario has been created by the police. Despite these oppressive, undemocratic measures, JKLF leaders and activists continued their election boycott campaign and on Monday JKLF leaders Noor Mohammad Kalwal, Mushtaq Ajmal, Mohammad Yasin, Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, Ghulam Mohammad , Showkat Ahmad, Pir Abdul Rashid visited many areas in Srinagar including Batamaloo, Batamaloo bus stand, Teergari Mohalla, Rajouri Kadal, Path Pora, Makerpora Chirgari Mohalla, Shali Ghat, Dulipora, Kawdara, Kawdara Chowk, Syed Kocha and many mohallas of Dalgate and Lal Chowk.”
JKLF leaders also visited many parts of Baramulla Magam Handwara, Baba Gund, Sidal Chuck, etc in Kupwara area. “Leaders went door to door to meet people individually and collectively and asked them to boycott Indian elections completely,” the spokesman said.
At Lal Chowk here, JKLF leader Ashraf bin Salam was arrested by police while distributing pamphlets relating to boycott.
Meanwhile, JKLF has paid tributes to its slain member Mohammad Haneef alias Aamir on his death anniversary. A delegation of JKLF including Engineer Ghulam Rasool Dar and Mohammad Sideeq Shah went to the residence of Haneef and expressed solidarity with his family, the statement added.
