Srinagar: Police on Monday seized an auto-rickshaw carrying anti-election posters in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district and arrested a youth, reports said.
The Special Operation Group of police detained Abid Farooq Jan, resident of Qazipora, Bandipora, after he was found carrying election boycott posters of Hurriyat Conference (G) in the auto-rickshaw (JK05B/3146). The three-wheeler was also seized on the occasion.
Meanwhile, in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, police arrested a youth after he was found tearing down the posters and flags of National Conference at Dudarhama.
Fayaz Ahmad, son of Muhammad Ramzan, a resident of Dudarhama was found bringing down NC flags and posters in the area after which he was arrested by police, a local news agency GNS said.
Meanwhile, police have registered cases in both the incidents.
The Ganderbal district, which falls under Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency, is going for polls on April 30, while Bandipora, which falls under Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency, is going for polls on May 7.
