Pampore: Two minors were seriously injured on Sunday when a grenade went off at an encounter site in Shopian, where two army men, including a Major, and three Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed in a fierce encounter on Friday.
12-year-old Amir, son of Bashir Ahmad Khan, was playing with his cousin Nazia Shakeel, 12, outside their house in Karewa village of Shopian when a grenade accidentally went off, reports said.
The siblings sustained serious injuries in the explosion that occurred at the site, where militants and forces were engaged in a fierce 18-hour long gun-battle that ended Saturday. The minors were removed to the district hospital, Shopian for treatment. However, the doctors there referred them to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment.
