SRINAGAR: The Hurriyat Conference (JK) on Sunday continued its election boycott campaign during which posters and pamphlets were distributed among the people in Srinagar, Ganderbal and Budgam, a party statement said.
It said party delegations while addressing people urged them “not to misuse their votes by voting for those who murdered our children and are strengthening the Indian occupation here.”
“The leaders made the stand of Hurriyat Conference JK clear that elections under the constitution of India cannot be the alternative to our right of self-determination and we want the issue to be resolved through UN resolutions or as per the aspirations of the people of Kashmir,” the statement said.
The delegations comprised Freedom Party’s Altaf Ahmad, Sajad Ahmad, Imtiyaz Ahmad, Waheed Ahmad, Raja Ibrahim, Tawseef Ahmad, Sadiq Hussain, Shah Jahan, Shiraz Ahmad, and Muslim League’s Bilal Ahmad Shah, Islamic Political Party’s Sajad Ahmad and Showkat Ahmad.
Meanwhile, the Hurriyat has condemned the arrest of chairman Islamic Political Party Muhammad Yusuf Naqash, Freedom Party’s Jahangir Ahmad, Naseer Ahmad, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Muhammad Shafi and Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat and said that by such arrests, “we don’t get dejected but our freedom spirit gets energized.”
