Mufti a cunning politician, staunch Indian: Geelani

Srinagar: In a scathing attack, Chairman Hurriyat Conference(G) Syed Ali Geelani Saturday described PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as “a staunch Indian and cunning politician.”
Rejecting Mufti’s “unrealistic” statement that the solution of Kashmir issue lay within the Indian constitution, Geelani said: ” Mufti and other pro-Indian politicians are working in a planed way to strengthen the Indian occupation, which otherwise has no moral or legal justification .”
Geelani said Mufti had spent his entire life serving the “Indian policies under the banner of Congress and later on the directions of secret agencies, he floated PDP.”
“This party is expert in deceiving people by raising hollow slogans. In 2002 they grabbed power in the name of “gooli nahi booli” (talks, not bullets) but later severely harmed the freedom struggle.”
“Mufti had also said that the mujahedeen need not to hide in forests as he will represent them in the assembly, but after that top mujahedeen commanders were martyred in a systematic manner,” he said.
Geelani also slammed Mufti for his statement in which he said that he would solve the Kashmir issue if PDP had 40 seats in the Assembly.
“How is the solution of Kashmir dispute possible under the Indian constitution where the Kashmir nation is struggling from last 66 years against forced occupation and sovereignty of India and about 6 lakh lives has been sacrificed, honour and dignity have lost and villages and towns were destroyed in this struggle. If Kashmiris had accepted the Indian constitution then there was no issue or no occupation.”
