Dar hails Geelani’s ‘strong conviction, steadfastness’

SRINAGAR: Shabir Ahmad Dar, chairman of a faction of the Muslim Conference, on Sunday hailed Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani’s “strong conviction and steadfastness.”
According to a statement, Dar while addressing election boycott meetings at Adipora and Batapora in Sopore, said, “We are proud to have a great and honest leader like Syed Ali Geelani who is heading this freedom movement. His strong conviction and steadfastness are the most valuable qualities which need to be followed. He is unparalleled and nobody can match his stature.”
Dar further said that people should remain away from these elections held under Indian constitution. “Because of these fraud elections we have suffered hugely on international front. This is a serious issue and we must deal with it seriously keeping in view the sacrifices offered by our brave sons. There are mainstream organizations who are participating in these elections to strengthen the Indian occupation legally and politically, so we cannot take this exercise lightly and calling these elections a non-issue means supporting NC, PDP.”
Dar said there are many people in the pro-freedom camp “who are overtly and covertly supporting mainstream parties by issuing childish statements and terming these elections as non-issue. So we have to be guard against such forces as well. India has always mislead international community with these elections and termed them as substitute to right of self-determination which has been promised to us by the United Nations.”
