Police foil JKLF march; Butt, others detained

Srinagar: Police on Saturday took senior JKLF leader advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt along with several of his associates into custody when they were leading a torch march at Lal Chowk as part of the pro-independence group’s  election boycott campaign .
“Hundreds of JKLF leaders and activists holding mashaals in their hands raised slogans in favor of freedom took out a march and when they reached Nai Sadak Chowk, a large contingent of police deployed there  used excessive force and detained JKLF leaders advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt , Mohammad Azeem Zargar and others,” a JKLF spokesman said.
Speaking to  media persons before the procession, Butt said “Indian elections were a stage managed drama to hoodwink the international community.”
“The main aim and objective of elections organized is to prolong the slavery of Kashmiris, to legislate new tyrannical and oppressive laws against people of Jammu Kashmir and to subject Kashmiris to torture and repression. Therefore participation in these election In any name is enmity with Kashmir and Kashmiris,” he said.
