Jama’at condemns arrest of pro-freedom leaders

Srinagar: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir on Friday condemned what it called “unethical and undemocratic” arrest spree unleashed by police against pro-freedom leaders and activists in nook and corner of Valley in the wake of “so-called parliamentary elections.”
In a statement here, Jama’at spokesman Advocate Zahid Ali condemned arrest of Mohammad Yasin Malik, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Assadullah Parray and others who have been detained in different police stations and torture centers.
Jama’at also vehemently condemned the house arrest of Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani and described it as “reflection of autocratic regime.”
