PDP Sarpanch shot dead in Awantipora

Srinagar: Unidentified gunmen on Thursday evening shot dead a Sarpanch of opposition Peoples Democratic Party at Awantipora in south Pulwama district, official sources said.
They said the gunmen barged inside the house of the Sarpanch, Mohammad Amin Pandith son of Abdul Ahad Pandith, at Gulzarpora Awantipora around 9:30 p.m.
The gunmen, they said, asked Pandith to accompany them. However after few minutes, they said, there were few gunshots in the area.
Neighbours and family rushed outside only to find Pandith in pool blood near community electric transformer, few meters away from his residence.
They shifted Pandith to nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, they added. (with inputs from agency)
