Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front(JKLF) leaders and activists visited various localities in Bemina area of this summer capital city as part of the pro-independence group’s election boycott campaign.
“Led by zonal president Noor Mohammad Kalwal, JKLF leaders Siraj ud Din Mir, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Javed Ahmad Bhat, Mohammad Haneef, Showkat Ahmad Dar, Mushtaq Ahmad Dar and Fayaz Ahmad, apprised the people about the importance of election boycott,” a JKLF spokesman said in a statement here.
“The leaders and activists went door-to-door meeting people individually and collectively and asking them to stay away from the sham electoral process. They tried to explain to the people how the main aim and objective of elections organized by India and held under the Indian constitution was to prolong the slavery of Kashmiris, to legislate new tyrannical and oppressive laws against people of Jammu Kashmir and to subject Kashmiris to torture and repression,” the statement said.
The JKLF leaders also distributed boycott related pamphlets among the people.
