Kulgam : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Wednesday said opposition PDP had entered into a clandestine alliance with BJP, and likened its leaders Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti to BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s close aide Amit Shah.
“The Mufti duo are acting as ‘Amit Shahs’ of Narendra Modi in Jammu and Kashmir. PDP and BJP have entered into a clandestine alliance to supplement and complement each other.
Voting in favour of PDP will amount to voting for BJP,” Omar said at a poll rally at Devsar here, 75 kms from Srinagar.
Omar said the only aim of PDP in the Lok Sabha polls is to provide tactical support to Modi and BJP and claimed that the fielding of candidates by the party in Jammu-Poonch and Udhampur-Doda seats was a clear indication of this understanding between them.
He said it is an open secret that PDP wants Modi to be at the helm of affairs.
“But PDP and its leadership should know that people of Jammu and Kashmir are wise enough to understand PDP’s vested interests and they will foil its conspiracy it is hatching…for the greed of chair,” he said.
The Chief Minister said Modi carries stigma of Gujarat riots on him and has not been exonerated by the public for innocent killings.
“Narendra Modi has also not even expressed regrets for the unfortunate massacre in Gujarat, instead exhibited his particular ideology by rejecting the offer to wear a cap presented to him by the minority community,” Omar said,
Omar said Modi’s action in Gujarat to stop the scholarship benefits to minorities granted by the Central Government and taking the issue to the High Court and the Supreme Court revealed his attitude towards minorities.
The Chief Minister also pointed out that BJP had categorically stated in its manifesto about the abrogation of Article 370, Uniform Civil Code and construction of temple in Ayodhya and said BJP’s ‘divide and rule’ policy and communal based ideology is well known to all.
Stating that the Lok Sabha election is meant for electing the Prime Minister through MPs, he asked voters to ensure the PM was a person who would carry all sections of the society along with him besides having inclusiveness and equitable development benchmarks of his political agenda.
Rahul Gandhi possesses this quality, he said and asked the people to vote to reject communal and divisive forces “represented by PDP and BJP”, he said.
Omar appealed to the people to vote in favour of NC-Congress candidate Mehboob Baig and help bring UPA-III to power, which is in the best interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
