Residences of 2 NC activists attacked, PDP member’s scooter torched in old Srinagar

Srinagar: Unidentified persons attacked residences of two ruling National Conference workers with petrol bombs while a scooter of a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was torched in downtown Srinagar on Monday night, reports said.
The houses of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat and Mohammad Shafi Lone were attacked in Jamallata area. The duo and their families escaped unhurt. Police however said the houses were attacked with stones.
In another incident in Jamallat, scooter of Manzoor Ahmad, who is associated with PDP, was torched by unidentified persons.
“The attacks on the workers of pro-India parties have created fear among their workers residing in old city, which is a hub of resistance movement and anti-India protests,” a local news agency GNS said.
Superintendent of Police, City North, Tahir Saleem said, “The houses of two NC workers were attacked with stones and a scooter of PDP worker was torched.” Police have registered a case.
On Sunday last, militants attacked NC youth leader’s house in Khrew area of south Kashmir killing two policemen. Two militants were also killed after government forces engaged them in a gun battle.
