Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference Jammu and Kashmir(HCJK) leaders Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash and Shabbir Ahmad Dar addressed public gatherings in various areas of Tral on Tuesday as part of the outfit’s election boycott campaign.
They were later detained in Awantipora while they were returning to Srinagar.
According to a statement, Shah said the “freedom movement of Kashmiris was nourished by the sacrifices of martyrs and reminded people of their responsibilities towards the mission of martyrs.”
“The mainstream parties are calling for votes to give democratic color to India’s forcible occupation while as we demand boycott of elections to free people from the clutches of Indian slavery,” he said
Shah said by taking participating in the “sham election process, we are only strengthening the forcible occupation of India.”
“By boycotting the polls we should give a clear message to the world that the people of Kashmir want only freedom,” he said.
JKLF leaders visit Batamaloo, urge people to stay away from polls
Meanwhile, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front leaders and activists visited various localities in Batamaloo area and urged people to stay away from elections .
“JKLF leaders Noor Mohammad kalwal, Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, Mohammad Yasin Bhat, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Syed Nisar Jeelani, Gulzar Ahmad Pahalwan, Showkat Ahmad Dar, Mushtaq Ahmad and Pir Abdul Rashid etc started their campaign from the residence of martyr Sheikh Abdul Hamid at Sideeqabad (Lachmanpora) and visited Sideeqabad, S D colony, Salfia Colony and other localities, with the message of election boycott.”
