SRINAGAR: Led by the all-round brilliance of Yawar Ahmad, Khanpora Cricket Club (KCC) crushed Chadoora Cricket Club by five wickets in ‘Martyr Parvaiz T20 Cricket Knockout Tournament’ played at Armed Police Complex Stadium Humhama, Budgam on Tuesday.
Yawar was brilliant with the ball, snaring a half a dozen wickets before returning with the willow in the hand to make undefeated 29 runs that helped his side to a comfortable five wicket victory over their opponents and make it to the other round. He was declared man of the match.
Powered by 56-run knock from Abdul Rashid, Shiekhpora Cricket Club defeated Dsitrict Police Budgam by six wickets. Rashid walked with man of the match award for his match winning effort.
The tournament is organised by J&K Police (JKAP 11th Security Battalion) in association with District Youth Services and Sports Budgam, as part of its ‘Civic Action Programme-2013-14’. The tournament got its name as a tribute to late constable Parvaiz Ahmad Wani, who was killed by unidentified gunmen last year.
