Srinagar: Authorities are likely to impose restrictions in downtown area of Srinagar on Saturday in wake of the shutdown called by Hurriyat Conference (M) against the Tosmaidan firing range lease extension to the Army.
“According to (a) senior spokesman in the administration, the authorities are scheduled to invoke Section 144 in the old city,” a local news agency KNS said on Friday.
Hurriyat (M) chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday reiterated his call for complete strike on April 12. The High Court Bar Association has also extended its support to the Hurriyat’s strike call over the Tosmaidan issue. The lease to the Army is ending on April 18.
