JKLF, HCJK hold anti-election rallies

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front(JKLF) and Hurriyat Conference Jammu and Kashmir(HCJK) Friday held rallies in various areas as part of their election boycott campaign
HCJK leaders, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Muhammad Yaseen Attai and the JKLF-R leader Ejaz Ahmad Mir addressing a public gathering at Ompura in Budgam district rejected the Parliamentary elections as sham and appealed people to stay away from the process.
“They said that India through fake polls wanted to suppress the ongoing liberation movement but it would never succeed in its nefarious designs and the people of Kashmir would continue their struggle till complete success. They also denounced the arrest of Hurriyet leaders and activists and demanded their immediate release,” according to a statement.
JKLF leaders and activists also visited several areas in north and south Kashmir in south Kashmir’s Pulwama, Kulgam and Anantnag districts bdesides Lal Chowk area in Srinagar, a spokesman for the pro-independence group said.
“Addressing the gatherings, the JKLF leaders said that the main aim and objective of elections organized by India was to prolong the slavery of Kashmiris, to legislate new tyrannical and oppressive laws against people of Jammu and Kashmir and to subject Kashmiris to torture and repression,” the spokesman said.
