Jammu traders, hoteliers offering discounts on Baisakhi

JAMMU: The traders and hotel operators would be offer special discounts during the Baisakhi festival, while a special craft mela is being organized by tribal artists from different states.
Addressing a press conference here Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu said that on the occasion there will be 30 percent discount offered by the Hotel Association, besides traders in Kanak Mandi, Vir Marg would sell items on wholesale rates with attractive prizes.
The five day festival starting today is being organized by the Directorate of Tourism Jammu in collaboration with Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (Bhopal), an institution under Ministry of Culture, government of India at Mubarak Mandi, Raghunath Bazar, Rajinder Bazar and Veer Marg.
The inaugural ceremony shall take place at Kanak Mandi followed by Jhanki, Kud Dance and other cultural events by cultural troops.
Tanga ride, special exhibition on heritage at Mubarak Mandi, ethnic food stalls are major attractions of the event besides wrestling competition, local sports as well as a golf tournament would also be organized.
The main attraction of the programme will be demonstration and sale of traditional and tribal arts from artisans of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Gujarat, Assam, Manipur and Jammu and Kashmir who will demonstrate and sale their traditional craft products.
For this mega event there will be no entry fee.
