SRINAGAR: Police has arrested 11 gamblers including two government employees from Cheshma Shahi hut and also recovered the stake money.
Quoting a top police official, a local news agency reported that 11 gamblers were arrested from Chashma Shahi huts.
“Police arrested two employees as well who look after these huts at Cheshma Shahi. We recovered stake money worth Rs 50,980 from them and the case has been registered against them,” the official said.
Residents of Nishat and its adjoining areas meanwhile alleged that Royal Spring (Chashma Shahi) has become hub of gambling while employees deputed to look after the huts are hand in glove with these gamblers who according to the locals belong to influential families.
“These gamblers arrive here in their comfortable vehicles. They bribe the employees who look after the huts and some of them join as well and could be seen busy in gambling whole day,” a local told CNS.
The locals appealed to police to keep a strict vigil on these huts so that no gambler manage his entry there.
