Malik pays tributes to Maulana Showkat

Srinagar: Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front(JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik paying tributes to Maulana Showkat Ahmad Shah has said that the effective and multi-dimensional personality of the slain Jamiat-e-Ahlhadees chief will always remain afresh in the memories of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at a meeting held in memory of Maulana Showkat at JKLF headquarters in Maisuma, Malik said that the Maulana Showkat was the first President of Jamiat Ahle Hadees who was arrested in 2008 under PSA and was sent to kotbhalwal Jail, Jammu, for anti-poll campaign.
“Maulana Showkat worked continuously for the cause of freedom and his efforts for the unity of Ummah, his zeal to promote Quran and Sunnah and communicating it to the new generations, his philanthropy and his works in the field of education and social work bear a witness to the fact that Maulana Showkat was a legendary figure who cannot be ignored even by his enemies,” Malik said.
“He was a great scholar, brave and straight forward human, a loving and caring brother and a human being who always gave priority to human cause,” Malik said.
He was a scholar, a speaker, an educationist, a social worker, a political leader and a person who always loved to promote unity in the ranks and files of Muslims in Kashmir, Malik added.
Meanwhile, a prayer meeting was also held on the occasion.
