CRPF trooper dies of cardiac arrest

Srinagar: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel Tuesday died of heart attack in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
33-year old Constable Jitender Kumar of 182 Bn of CRPF suffered cardiac arrest during duty at camp in Pulwama, officials said.
He was taken to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead, they said.
Kumar’s body has been sent to his native village in Bijnour, Uttar Pradesh , the official said.
Meanwhile, an army officer died yesterday after he slipped off a ridge during an anti-militancy operation in south Kashmir.
An army spokesman said that Major Rahul Singh sustained fatal head injury when he fell down 10 to 15 metres off the ridge during the search operation launched by the Rashtriya Rifles in General area Panchalthan.
The Major suffered the fall due to extreme slippery terrain conditions compounded by inclement weather, the spokesman said.
Major Singh, who had nine years of service in the army, is survived by his wife and a 2-year-old daughter.
