Srinagar/Jammu: Seven houses and a cowshed were damaged by heavy rains which lasted several parts of Kashmir valley over the past three days, police said Tuesday.
Four houses and a cowshed were damaged due to heavy rains at Dignibal village in Nagbal area of Ganderbal district, a police spokesman said.
Two more houses were damaged by rains in Akkad village of Mattan in Anantnag district, he added.
Another house was damaged by rains at Khar Mohalla Adhal in Kokernag area of Anantnag district, the spokesman said, adding, the house owner Farooq Ahmad Sheikh and his family were moved to safety as the damage rendered the house unsafe.
However, no causality was reported in the incidents.
Heavy rains lashed several parts of Kashmir valley between Saturday and Monday, while snowfall was also reported in high altitude areas during the period.
Meanwhile, a woman and her four-year-old daughter was killed while two others got injured when a house collapsed due to incessant rains in mountainous Doda district.
“Sushma Devi, 32, wife of Mohinder Singh, and their daughter Sapna,4, residents of village Laloth, Assar of Doda district, died on the spot during wee hours today when their mud house collapsed due to rains,” reports quoting police sources said.
They said Mohinder Singh and daughter Koushalya, 6, sustained injuries in the incident and have been hospitalized.
