SRINAGAR: National Conference president and former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Farooq Abdullah was among five candidates who filed nomination papers on Monday from Srinagar constituency for upcoming parliamentary elections.
An official spokesperson said in a statement that “in pursuance to notification issued by Election Commission of India on April 02, five candidates on Monday filed their nomination papers before the Returning Officer, Farooq Ahmad Shah for Srinagar Lok Sabha Constituency in DC Office, Srinagar.
Besides Abdullah, Raja Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat of Aam Aadmi Party, and three independent candidates including Feroz Ahmad Bhat of Char-i-Shrief, Mirza Sajjad Hussain Beig of Zadibal and Rabia Altaf from Soura filed their nomination papers,” he added.
Meanwhile, returning officer, Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Shah said that the last date of filing of nomination papers is April 9 and the nomination papers will be scrutinized on April 10.
“The last date for withdrawing of nomination papers is April 12,” he added.
