Pulwama: Unidentified gunmen Sunday shot at and injured a retired doctor in this south Kashmir district.
Two pistol-borne militants barged into the private clinic of Ghulam Qadir Sofi, a retired Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Pulwama district, and fired at him twice, DIG South Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, told Kashmir Reader.
Sofi was hit in the left arm and right leg by the bullets, he said, adding the militants fled from the scene after firing, which caused panic in the area.
He was immediately shifted to District Hospital Pulwama, where doctors referred him to Bone and Joints Hospital(Barzulla) Srinagar for further treatment.
No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack. “We are
trying to ascertain the reason behind the attack ,” Kumar said
In 2011, Sofi was placed under suspension by the government after he was caught on video in a compromising position with a woman at his office .
