GANDERBAL: Adminstration has booked 285 erring traders for profiteering and violation of the essential commodities Act in the district and fined Rs 1.14 from the violators, an official spokesperson said.
The Legal Metrology Department (LMD), Ganderbal conducted the market checking of different markets of district Ganderbal and booked 285 cases against the erring traders for unfair trade practices and violation of different provisions of Legal Metrology laws during the year 2013-14.
An amount of Rs. 1,14,400 was realized as composition sum from the defaulters. There have also been 10,476 numbers of Weight and Measures standardized in the departmental laboratory and an amount of Rs. 1,58,460 as stamping fee from 1,072 traders realized as revenue.
The business community was advised to abide by the Legal Metrology law by getting their weight-measures, weighing instruments (both manual and electronic) periodically re-verified and stamped by the department.
