Poor ATM service irks Tangmarg residents, tourists

BARAMULLA: Residents of Tangmarg have complained that ATMs operational in Magam, Chandilora, Kunzer and Tangmarg localities are either malfunctioning or cash dry resulting in hardships for the common man.
The people said that these ATMs that are mostly operational under the J&K Bank fail to vend cash and are most of the times out of service.
One of the locals said that one of the ATM at Kunzer was damaged by burglars last month and it is yet to be repair and those which exist on the Narbal-Tangmarg road at various places fail to deliver cash for the past few days.
The locals demanded that the bank should check what is causing this malfunctioning and even depute professionals to rectify the snags as the area is frequented by tourists who could not use the service, resulting inconvenience and loss to local economy.
There must be some problem as all the ATMs have been facing a similar problem and there should be thorough checkups of these machines on why they are not delivering the cash to customers,” said Nazir Ahmad Reshi, a tourist cab driver, adding that the bank should also see way the machine screens display ‘low on cash’ message.
