BARAMULLA: Kakar Hamam residents here Saturday protested against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to repair a transformer that was damaged a month ago.
The locals said that the transformer was gutted a month ago and the department installed a new one that was already faulty and had to be replaced
“Since then there is no news on when we would get back our transformer,” they said.
Mohammad Maqbool a local said that they have been visiting the concerned office and even though the officials keep assuring them of speedy installation, there has been no progress.
The locals said that PDD should immediately install the transformer or they will again come on the streets.
Meanwhile, there are reports of acute shortage of water in neighboring Kupwara district with residents of Mir Mohalla, Ganie Mohalla, Malik Mohalla and Sulkot protesting in the main market against the Public Health
