Srinagar: A revenue official was on Thursday arrested while he was allegedly accepting bribe, State Vigilance Organisation officials said.
Syed Mubashir Hanief, a Patwari in Eidgah Sangam area here, was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 3,500 in presence of independent witnesses, the officials said.
They said Hanief was accepting bribe from a person for effecting mutation of a piece of land in the revenue records.
On the basis of a complaint against the accused, SVO had registered a case and a special squad of Vigilance Organization Kashmir had laid a trap to arrest the accused, they said.
