DHSK has been let off in spurious drug scam: DAK

Srinagar: President Doctors Association of Kashmir, Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan on Thursday said that DAK is anguished that verification board of Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) allegedly involved in purchase and supply of fake drugs has been let off.
In a statement here, Dr Hassan said the then verification board which was constituted and headed by Director Health services Kashmir (DHSK) Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman has “deliberately overlooked” the supply order and specifications of fake drug tablet Maximizin 625 mg.
“Dr Saleem bought 2 lakh Maximizin tablets from Lifeline Pharmaco worth Rs. 8,568,00 vide supply order no DHSK/PUR/SO/D&M/2012-13/1442-4 dated 01-09-2012 with invoice no 133.The board has not checked the credentials like authorization letter of the manufacturing company. The board has overlooked the sample pack as the fake sample pack was 1×10 whereas the original sample pack is 1×6.The board has not checked the potency of the drug by analyzing the drug prior to its use,” the DAK president said.
He said, “There is substantial evidence to prove Dr Saleem’s complicity in purchase and supply of spurious drugs for government hospitals. He has deliberately overlooked the fake and fraudulent documents and facilitated the commission of crime. Unfortunately the victims of this devilish act were poor patients who consumed the poison and lost their lives.”
“DAK demands immediate removal of Dr Saleem from his position and should be prosecuted. DAK reiterates its demand for independent inquiry into spurious drug scam as it is deep rooted with political patronage,” the DAK president added.
