Anantnag: Plantation Day was celebrated in Anantnag by children of a local leading school Froebel Public School Anantnag in collaboration with Social Forestry Department and Army Goodwill School at Army Camp High Ground Anantnag.
The function was presided over by M. Ramzan Mir Divisional Forest Officer, Social Forestry Department Anantnag and was attended by troops and officers of the army unit Anantnag, the media people and faculty of the two schools
The function started with the performance of cultural programmes students from the Froebel School who later on planted 1000 saplings of Poplars, Pines and Chinars along with the children of the local Army Goodwill School.
Speaking on the occasion chairman of Froebel Public School, Arshid Baba said, that the students of Froebel Public School planted over nine thousand trees in past five years in the army area.
Baba expressed his “joy for the survival of over 70% of them as the army units had been taking due care of the planted trees.”
“The children will inherit a safe and livable planet if adults take the right steps for their future,” he added.
