CEC visiting JK today

JAMMU: Chief Election Commissioner of India V S Sampath is visiting Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday to review the arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of Lok Sabha polls in the state.
An official spokesperson said Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Shantmanu on Tuesday chaired a meeting of officers to review the preparedness for the forthcoming elections.
“During the meeting, Divisional Commissioner directed all the departments to ensure that the arrangements for elections are put in place well in time as Chief Election Commissioner of India is visiting J&K on April 2,” the spokesperson said.
The Director School Education was asked to ensure that temporary toilets, water facility and temporary ramps are established in those schools where polling stations have been formed.
It was also informed in the meeting that 48 sorties have been put in place by coordinating with Indian Air Force so that polling staff and paramilitary personals are timely airlifted to their respective destinations for smooth conduct of the polls.
