Kunzer gets computerized sub-post office

BARAMULLA: Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle, Chander Prakash Monday inaugurated a new modern and fully computerized delivery Post Office in the picturesque town of Kunzer here.
This is in continuation of the drive of the Postal Department to extend world class Postal facilities to the people, especially in the rural areas. “The Post Office is equipped with all the modern facilities and equipments to provide excellent, Postal mail, parcel, speed post, life insurance as well as Post Office Savings Bank facilities. Not only this but also internet enabled online services like eMO, ePayment, instant MO facilities will be provided to the people here”, the Chief Postmaster General said during the inauguration.
The post office started functioning immediately and will remain open from 9 am to 5 pm.
The move of the department has fulfilled a long pending demand of the people of this area. It is pertinent to recall that the Branch Post Office was opened at Kunzer in 1954, and a well-respected person of the area, Khwaja Samad Khan served with full dedication as Branch Postmaster for many decades. The people of the area have been demanding the up gradation of the Branch to the status of Sub Post Office since long. “Today demand of the people of Kunzer town has been fulfilled. This upgradation of Post Office will provide all the modern as well as traditional Postal facilities to the people of Kunzer Town,” he said.
The meeting was also addressed by Ram Lal, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Srinagar.
Dak Sewa awardee official of the department Syed Roouf Ahmad has been given the responsibility as a Postmaster of Kunzer Post Office.
