SRINAGAR/KULGAM: Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front(JKLF) Mohammad Yasin Malik Friday appealed people to stay away from “farcical elections” in order to “honour the sacrifices offered by martyrs.”
Addressing a rally at Bogam in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, Malik paid rich tributes to Ashfaq Majeed Wani, Advocate Jaleel Ahmed Andrabi, Dr Abdul Ahad Guru and martyrs of Dargah Hazratbal including Shabbir Ahmed Siddiqui on their death anniversaries.
“Kashmiri martyrs have sacrificed their lives for a sacred cause and their mission would be accomplished at all costs. Casting votes in the farcical elections would be harmful for the ongoing liberation movement as India had exploited the participation of Kashmiri people in the polls in its favour at the international level,” Malik said.
The JKLF Chairman also led a big procession from Bichroo to Bogam amid high-pitched anti-India and pro-liberation slogans.
Earlier, Malik led a prayer meeting at the Martyrs Graveyard in Eidgah area of Old City where a large number of people offered fateha-khwani for Ashfaq Majeed Wani and others.
JKLF-R also paid rich tributes to Wani.
“Various Front leaders under the chairmanship on Farooq Ahmad Dar went to Mazaar-E-Shuhada, Eidgah and offered special prayers for the Martyrs of Kashmir,” the statement said.
Speaking on the occasion, Dar said “The martyrdom of Ishfaq Majeed Wani injected a new passion for freedom into every individual of the state and his name was a household name in those times.”
Dar also paid tributes to Jaleel Andrabi, Shabir Ahmad Siddiqui and Dr. Abdul Ahad Guru.
