Protest as police stop patients’ vehicles

Jammu: Protest erupted in Kathua district after vehicles carrying patients toward Jammu and Kathua were stopped by police in the wake of an encounter between government forces and militants Friday.
About 200 people protested against police after a car carrying a pregnant lady and vehicles with another patients were intercepted by them on Jammu-Pathankot highway.
Congress minister Manohar Lal Sharma rushed to the place and pacified protesters who were later allowed to take patients to hospital.
Dy SP Abid Rashid Mir said he had strict instructions to deny anybody to move from either sides on the highway.
Over 3,000 vehicles were stopped at various places, thereby causing inconvenience to the passengers.
