Mirwaiz flays double standards on Kashmir

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference(M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Thursday appealed the international community to come forward in an effective way for finding out a durable settlement of the Kashmir dispute.
Addressing via video a two-day international conference on Kashmir held in Pakistani capital Islamabad Mirwaiz maintained that delay in resolving the Kashmir dispute would jeopardize all efforts to restore peace and stability in South Asia. The conference was arranged by Muslim Institute Islamabad.
Mirwaiz “deplored the double standards adopted by the international community in resolving the world conflicts. He pointed that on the one hand the world powers had succeeded in resolving the disputes over East Timor, Kosovo and Southern Sudan. However, on the other hand, the Kashmir dispute was kept unresolved,” according to a statement.
The conference was also addressed among others by Raja Zafarul Haq, Victoria Schofield, Akram Zaki, Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, Qamar-uz-Zaman Kaira, Shamshad Ahmad Khan, General (rtd) Hameed Gul and other intellectuals.
