Pulwama: The residents of village Sail in Awantipora tehsil of this south Kashmir district have appealed the R&B authorities to complete a bridge under construction since 2011 as the villagers are facing immense hardships, as it is the only link connecting the village to the rest of area.
They said the foundation stone for the bridge was laid down in 2011, however, the construction work was stopped many a times for unknown reasons.
The work on the bridge is under the execution of Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department.
“People of this village are facing hardships in respect of easy movement. No work is being resumed despite repeated requests to the concerned authorities. So far our pleas are dashed to ground,” the villagers said.
They appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Minister for R&B, Abdul Majid Wani to intervene into the matter so that construction works on the bridge would be started at the earliest.
“We appeal chief minister and the minister concerned to issue necessary orders so that the construction work will be started at the earliest so that the general public is relieved of the trouble and present hardships,” they added.
They said the road led through the bridge is the only connection to the village, as it is surrounded by the streams and water canals.
