Indians should press political leadership for K-resolution Mirwaiz

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday said the people of India should impress upon their political leadership “to resolve the long- pending Kashmir dispute on urgent basis.”
“40 percent of Indians are living under miserable poverty even as the defense expenditure has already crossed the mark of 48 billion dollar,” Mirwaiz said during a meeting of the conglomerates executive council, a statement issued by the group said.
According to the statement, the meeting, which besides Mirwaiz, was attended by all the members of executive council including Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone, Moulana Abbas Ansari, Agha Syed Hassan Al Moosvi Al Safvi, Musadiq Adil and Mukhtar Ahmad Waza held detailed deliberations upon the ongoing political developments happening in Kashmir and in entire south Asia.
The statement said that the meeting opined that “Kashmir issue was the main cause of instability in south Asia and also the main source of recurring tension between India and Pakistan.”
Stating that Kashmir dispute was a “political and humanitarian issue,” the meeting stated that the “issue should be seen in its proper historical context.”
“Instead of approaching the Kashmir issue through the prism of economic grants and packages, the time has come to seriously solve the Kashmir through political means so that lasting peace is established in the region,” the statement said.
The meeting asserted that Kashmir was an international issue recognized by the international community, including the UN.
The Hurriyat Conference also said that Kashmir issue should be “resolved either by implementing pending UN resolutions or through tripartite dialogue.”
“The participants expressed hope that any political party which would come to power in Delhi, considering the sensitivity and importance of Kashmir issue, would seriously initiate result oriented and uninterrupted dialogue among all parties to solve this pending issue,” the statement added.
The pro-freedom conglomerate maintained that it has “always supported the result oriented and meaningful dialogue to solve the Kashmir issue among all the parties’ i.e India Pakistan and the people of Kashmir.”
