Geelani flays mass death sentence to Morsi supporters

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Wednesday termed the death sentence to over 500 supporters of deposed Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi as “worst kind of state-terrorism.”
“The mass death sentence of 529 followers of President Mohammad Mursi including the General Guide of Muslim Brotherhood, Mohammad Badie by an Egyptian court is a worst kind of state-terrorism and a worst joke of 21 century,” Geelani said in a statement issued by Hurriyat Conference (G) spokesman.
The statement said that Geelani criticized “the role of so-called champions of justice and democracy who not only maintained a criminal silence over this lawlessness but are also patting the back of Egyptian government.”
“The removal of first elected government and situation arising thereafter has actually lifted the curtain from the ‘New World Order’ policy and have proven the fact that the West with its Zionist mind has started a war against Islam and its real followers and want to eliminate them from the world,” Geelani said.
Geelani also expressed his deep sorrow and distress over the role of those Muslim rulers “who are openly supporting the army generals in suppression of Islamist people in Egypt and are providing them a justification to this lawlessness.”
