IHM students seek ouster of ‘biased’ Principal

SRINAGAR: Scores of Kashmiri students studying at the Institute of Hotel Management here staged a protest against the “biased” approach of the Principal.
The students assembled at Press Enclave here and alleged non-local students ‘patronized’ by the Principal Nisheeth Srivastava were acting as ‘goons’ and harassing Kashmiri students on one pretext or the other.
“There was a scuffle between the local and non-local students on Monday but ironically the Principal supported the non-local students and rusticated three local students,” one of the students said.
The students demanded that the rusticated students be re-admitted and the Principal immediately removed.
As long as the present Principal occupies the post, harmony and amity will not prevail in the institute, the students alleged.
“He is unnecessarily harassing the local students and never takes any action against the non-local students,” said another student.
Principal IHM Nisheeth Srivastava said that action would be initiated against students responsible for the clashes irrespective of “caste, creed and religion.”
