Baramulla: A Sarpanch from Sheeri, Gulam Rasool Bhat, belonging to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP was shocked to receive a threat letter along with a bullet Monday morning at his shop situated in main market Sheeri Baramulla.
The bullet apparently from a pistol, along with a hand written letter ascribed to militant outfit, Lashker-e-Toiba, has warned Bhat to quit the post of Sarpanch immediately and make it public through print media.
Bhat said that as he reached to his shop in the morning he found the letter with a bullet fixed with an adhesive outside his medical shop.
The threat letter along with the bullet attracted a large number of people and shopkeepers, with police team from Sheeri police station later taking possession of both.
Bhat said that he could not figure who could have sent this threat letter and said that police is investigating the matter.
When contacted, Senior Superintendent of police (SSP) Baramulla, Suhail Ahmad Mir, said that the police has recovered the document along with the bullet and was investing the matter.
He declined comments and said, “We can’t reveal much before proper investigation.”
