SRINAGAR: The youth of Pampore town and adjoining areas have appealed to the local administration that it should take notice of the encroachments that have happened in last few years in Iqbal Stadium (Tanchi Bagh), Pampore.
The youth also said that condition of another stadium in Kadlabal area is ever worsening and remains water logged throughout the year which has made it unsafe for any sports activity.
The sports enthusiasts called upon the local administration and civil institutions to improve the conditions of the stadiums in the area and book those who have encroached the grounds.
In an appeal to the judiciary, religious groups, civil society and traders besides the intellectuals they have apprehended that the stadium is being encroached upon continuously leaving no place for the youth to play.
“The infrastructure should be upgraded at the earliest and the pending works be completed as the developmental work taken so far has made it a cesspool in the area,” reads the statement issued here.
The youth asked for focus on promoting the sporting activity in the area so that youth of the area devote more time to this than engaging in waywardness.
