Srinagar: J&K’s ruling National Conference (NC) on Wednesday elected a 10-member provincial committee for the Kashmir Valley after internal party polls held over a period two months.
Provincial president Kashmir Nasir Aslam Wani officially declared the appointment of 10-member provincial committee of NC for Kashmir province, a party release said here.
Senior leader Mohammad Syed Akhoon has been elected as the senior vice-president for Kashmir, while Abdul Rashid Shaheen, Syed Abdul Rashid and Sheikh Abdul Rehman have been elected as the provincial vice-presidents, incharge north, south and central Kashmir districts respectively.
Showket Ahmed Mir has been elected as the provincial secretary while Ghulam Nabi Bhat and Abdul Rashid Haroon as provincial joint secretaries for office affairs and public relations respectively, the statement said.
Raja Nasir Khan and Deen Mohammad Cheetah have been elected as provincial organisers for Gujjar Affairs and Pahari Affairs respectively, it said, adding Mohammad Amin Khan has been elected as the provincial organiser for workers and employees unions.
Terming the internal party elections as the “vindication of NC’s commitment to democracy and empowerment,” Wani congratulated the elected office bearers and implored them to leave no stone unturned to continue the party’s “commitment to work for welfare of the people of the state.”
