Srinagar: The upper reaches including world famous ski resort of Gulmarg received fresh snowfall even as rains lashed many parts of Kashmir Valley Monday,
The Meteorological department here has warned of heavy rainfall or snowfall along with hailstorm and thunder squall at few places over the next 24 hours.
“Many areas of Kashmir Valley, including the summer capital Srinagar, were lashed by rains since early morning,” an official of the MET Department said.
He said there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains or snowfall at isolated places over the state.
“Moderate to rather heavy rains or snow will occur at most places over the state over the next 24 hours, while heavy rains or snow would occur at a few places,” he said.
He said there would be an increase in rainfall activity in the state over the next few days.
The weather office also warned of thunder squall or hailstorm at isolated places over the state during the next 24 hours.
In wake of avalanche warning, authorities in Bandipora and Kulgam districts have asked officials to remain prepared for any emergency.
