SRINAGAR: 70 students graduated in the sixth Ski Ccourse held conducted by Indian Institute of Ski and Mountaineering (IISM) on Sunday at Gulmarg, a statement issued by the IISM said.
According to the statement, 20 students were sponsored by the J&K Police from the North Kashmir Range.
“These were the students from economically weaker families who otherwise could have never got an opportunity to do such training,” it added.
Chief Executive Officer Gulmarg Development Authority Tariq Ahmad, was the chief guest at the award distribution ceremony and gave away prizes to the winners of different skiing.
Speaking on the occasion CEO Gulmarg complimented the students who passed out successfully in the course and conveyed his best wishes for their future. He said IISM is playing a very vital role to promote adventure tourism in Kashmir by training instructors in different adventure skills.
Principal of the Institute J S Dhillon said that IISM Institute can play a very vital role to help such youth by training them in different adventure skills after which they could become guides and instructors in the tourism sector.
