SRINAGAR: A fresh batch of over 115 aspiring entrepreneurs passed out from Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) on Friday after successful completion of three-week training program.
Among the 115 participants, 23 were female participants, a handout from EDI said.
“The unemployed youth, who are all set to start their own business ventures now, were exposed to a comprehensive training course, Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) to equip them with tools they need to start their profitable business,” the handout said.
The three-week EDP was aimed at providing lessons on skill development, performance improvement as well as business cum sector specific trainings, leadership and self-development training to the aspiring entrepreneurs.
They are exposed to a real-life business scenario through simulations. They also had interactions with successful entrepreneurs and technical experts from various fields.
The aspiring entrepreneurs are from varied educational background including qualified engineers and lawyers.
The candidates have registered for the Seed Capital Fund Scheme (SCFS) – a key component of the state government’s Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY), and Youth Start-Up Loan Scheme (YSLS) being implemented by JKEDI.
Sharing his experiences about the training program, Sheikh Owais, a trainee from Srinagar said: “The three-week training program is really comprehensive and has potential to open one’s mind as far as running a business is concerned.”
The trained aspiring entrepreneurs are targeting business including manufacturing (22), services (47), food processing (10), and agri-allied sectors (36).
