Most of essential services restored: Div Com

SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner  Kashmir  Shalindra Kumar said the administration has mobilized its men and machinery to restore the essential services and almost 90 percent of essential services have been restored.
He was briefing media persons about the measures being taken for restoration of essential service after the heavy snowfall in the valley.
Among others District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Chief Engineers of various departments, Director Health Services, DIG Traffic, on the occasion.
Efforts have been redoubled to ensure restoration of essential service including supply of electricity, water and availability of essential commodities, the Divisional Commissioner said.
The Chief Engineer Power Development Department informed the media that 100 percent power has been restored in Srinagar city, while PHE authorities informed that water supply is normal throughout Valley and the areas complaining of water scarcity have been tended and supply has been restored.
The Director Health Services Kashmir revealed that about 300 surgeries have been performed in various health institutions of valley, while 20,000 patients in OPD have been treated during last two days. Besides, 222 deliveries have been conducted in the health institutions.
UEED authorities said that dewatering of low lying and an inundated area is apace and department’s men and machinery is working 24×7.
DIG Traffic informed the media that Srinagar-Jammu Highway has been cleared of snow and focus is on the evacuation of stranded passenger vehicles on National Highway.
The District Development Commissioner Srinagar said that the district administration is in constant contact with the people through the already advertised help line and is responding to this complaints and grievance of the public.
