Srinagar: The state government on Wednesday closed the case of manipulating and tampering of date of birth (DoB) against the former Deputy Commissioner Baramulla after the inquiry officer cleared him of charges levelled against him in 2013.
The government on January 10, 2013 had filed a chargesheet against the then Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Ghulam Ahmad Khawaja on the basis of a complaint against him alleging that he had manipulated his DoB.
He was asked to furnish his written statement of defence within 15 working days after the filing of chargesheet. Khawaja had submitted the statement on February 5, 2013, which was later examined by the government.
The government had appointed Farooq Ahmad Peer, Commissioner Secretary to Government, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, as inquiry officer into the charges against Khawaja.
“The inquiry officer submitted his report in which he has held that no interpretation or tempering has taken place with the DoB certificate of the officer issued by the Board of School Education. The inquiry report was examined and its recommendations were accepted,” a government order passed on Wednesday.
“Now, therefore, charges framed against Mr. Ghulam Ahmed Khawaja, the then Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, are hereby dropped and the case against him closed,” the order added.
