‘For enhanced fertiliser supplies, facilitate entry of private dealers

JAMMU: Underscoring the need for adequate stock of chemical fertilizers at block level and its proper distribution to the farmers before Kharief season, Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir Tuesday directed the concerned authorities of the Agriculture Department and fertilizer companies to take all requisite steps well in time so that the farmers don’t face any inconvenience in getting the fertilizers in their areas.
Chairing a review meeting of officers of the Agriculture Department and representatives of fertilizer companies, the minister instructed for ensuring bulk stocks of different fertilizers in both divisions of the state, according to an official spokesperson.
The minister also called upon the concerned companies for stock and distribution of quality fertilizers to the farming community at the block and halqa level.
The minister also directed the concerned authorities to intensify the services of checking squads for ensuring quality distribution of fertilizers on reasonable rates to the farmers. He instructed supply and distribution of high yielding seeds to the farmers well in time.
The minister instructed the concerned authorities to facilitate entry of more private dealers in fertilizer distribution in order to provide hassle free supply of fertilizers to rural farmers. He urged the fertilizer companies to undertake camps for farmers to inform them about proper use of fertilizers.
Commissioner Secretary Agriculture, Asgar Samoon, Director Agriculture, SS Jamwal, Managing Director, J&K Agro Industries, Abdul Majeed Bhat, Managing Director JAKFED, Representatives of Fertilizer Companies besides other senior Officers of different wings of Agriculture Department attended the meeting.
