Dr Hajini gets National Award for Translation in Kashmiri

SRINAGAR: National Akademi of Letters, Sahitya Akademi New Delhi has announced National Awards for the best translations in major languages of India.
The awards were announced Monday after the meeting of Executive Board held at New Delhi where the decisions taken by various juries for grant of these awards were ratified.
In Kashmiri the award has been bagged by prominent poet, critic, researcher and language activist Dr Aziz Hajini for the Kashmiri translation of Dr Abdul Samad’s world famous Urdu novel, ‘Do Gaz Zameen’.
The book has been selected out of nine translated books which had qualified for the final round of adjudication. The award to be given away at a National level function in coming months comprises of cash prize of Rs 51000, a citation and a memento.
